A Data Processing Framework for Polar Performance Diagrams

چکیده
Polar performance diagrams are commonly used to predict the of a sailing vessel under given wind conditions. They are, in particular, an essential part robotic vessels and basis for weather routing algorithms. In this paper we introduce new framework scientific work with such diagrams, which make available as open source Python package. It contains model creation polar from measurement data supports different representations tasks. The also includes several methods visualisation example publications. Additionally, presented solves basic tasks future development weather-routing algorithms far more general manner than other did previously: it provides calculation costs trip using custom cost functions, suggestions optimal steering convex hull calculations flexible isochrone points, models. Altogether, allows researchers easily handle diagrams. corresponding package is compatible various established file formats.
